The City has just adopted policies to support detached suites (a.k.a. coach or lane houses) in the urban residential neighbourhoods. Those interested should contact the Development Services Department to see the minimum zoning requirements and to find out what’s involved with the rezoning process. Council has also expressed an interest in supporting coach houses in the rural areas (not in the ALR), and City staff is working on policies and zoning regulations to facilitate this initiative.
