Today I received this email and picture from our Corporate Officer.
Mayor and Council:
The changes to the Parks Regulation Bylaw to prohibit smoking in City parks and the related ticket/fine of $100 were adopted July 8, 2013.
The Parks Department has started installing the regulatory signs (example from Fletcher Park is attached) and decals (smaller versions of the signs). Signs are being posted in the City’s busiest parks (list attached) and should be finished by the end of September.
The City is not actively enforcing no smoking in City parks. We are hopeful that parks visitors will not smoke in City parks and the signs will assist other non smoking visitors in informing smokers of the prohibition.
