The Transportation Parcel Levy is a tax to provide for the transportation network within the City. Revenue raised from the Transportation Parcel Tax can only be used for the City’s transportation network. Every property is deemed to have equal opportunity to enjoy the transportation network which includes roads, bike paths and sidewalks.
The Water and Sewer Frontage levies are taxes charged to provide for the capital infrastructure of the water and sewer systems. All properties that have water and/or sewer services available to it must provide for the capital cost to keep the systems operational. The capital infrastructure includes mains, lift stations, pumping stations, treatment plant, etc. Properties connected to the water and/or sewer systems also pay user fees to provide for operational costs.
Frontage taxes are calculated by multiplying the taxable foot frontage of the property where it abuts City services, by the annual frontage rates. This is subject to a minimum of 50 feet and a maximum of 300 feet. Current rates are $2.08 per foot for water and $1.98 per foot for sewer frontage.
