May 12, 2020 Update

Council has authorized the safe reopening of City owned buildings/properties and hard surface courts, including the skateboard park, tennis courts, basketball courts and pickle ball courts, to the public in accordance with the Provincial Health Officer’s guidelines effective May 15, 2020. Facilities that are operated by independent Boards, including the Tennis Club, RJ Haney Heritage Village & Museum, Salmon Arm Art Centre, Horseshoe Club, and Lawn Bowling are empowered to decide when and how they reopen after this date as long as they are operating in accordance with all safety regulations.

 Council has also authorized the reopening of all City owned playgrounds and spray parks effective May 15, 2020. Signage will be placed at playgrounds and spray parks advising the public of their responsibility to practice safe hygiene and physical distancing while using these facilities. 

 Please note that City Hall, SASCU Recreation Centre, Shaw Centre Arena and seniors activity, resource and drop in centres are not included in this wave of reopenings.

At the direction of Council, the City of Salmon Arm is closing the SASCU Recreation Centre, Shaw Centre Arena, Little Mountain Field House, Memorial Arena Indoor Sports Complex, Fire Halls, Public Works Yard and City Hall to the public, effective March 19, 2020 to curb the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the community.  
Council has also authorized the closure, to the public, of all City owned (but not operated) properties /facilities effective end of business on Friday, March 20, 2020.
The City will continue to take direction from the Federal and Provincial health authorities and respond accordingly. Our main priority is the health and safety of the City’s residents and employees and the delivery of essential services.

Recreation Programs
Salmon Arm Recreation programs and services offered at the City’s recreation facilities will be cancelled effective March 19, 2020 until further notice.  
Refunds may be issued at a later date for anyone affected by programs cancelled during the closure. Please contact 250-832-4044 if you have any questions.

City Hall
City Hall will be closed to the public but staff will continue to provide City services. We encourage the public to use telephone and email to send in requests, ask questions and submit applications and paperwork. We also have a drop box at the front door of City Hall. Further information regarding Property Taxes will follow.

Council and Committee Meetings
The Regular Council Meeting of March 23, 2020 will proceed as scheduled. Members of the public may attend (to a maximum capacity of 50 total in Council Chamber on a first come, first served basis) but are encouraged to watch the video that will be posted online at https://youtu.be/gUqftDAk-ns . We do not currently have livestreaming capabilities. 

All Committee and Task Force meetings and any other meetings scheduled to be held at City Hall have been cancelled, until further notice.
