Parking
Several parking options are available for people doing business or working in Downtown Salmon Arm. In general, you’ll find easy access to free parking close to businesses and services downtown. As well, affordable all-day parking is located on the downtown perimeter.

On Street Non-Metered Parking

  • Intended use: to provide short term convenient customer parking for easy access to businesses and services
  • Maximum time: 1 hour
  • Locations: all main streets in the downtown core
  • Cost: free
  • Monday to Saturday
    8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Metered Parking
  • Intended use: to provide parking for people working downtown who need flexible time parking (such as staff working short shifts) or those who need to remain parked beyond allowable one or two hours free parking
  • Locations: perimeter of downtown
  • Time permitted: 1 hour to 10 hours
  • Cost: $0.25 per hour
  • Monday to Saturday
    8:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Quarters, Loonies and some take Toonies

Post Office

  • Intended use: to provide very short term access in order to use postal services
  • Location: in front of the Post Office on Hudson Avenue NE
  • Maximum time: 15 minutes
  • Cost: $0.25 / 15 minutes
  • Note: Cannot purchase extra time – meter is 15 minute maximum

Metered Parking 2 Avenue NE and 6 Street NE around City Hall
  • Time permitted: 1 hour to 10 hours
  • Cost: $0.25 per hour
  • Monday to Saturday
    8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Quarters, Loonies and some take Toonies

All Other Meters and On-Street Ticket Pay and Display Systems

    • Personalized: $36.75per month or $199.50 per six months - including GST (10% discount for six-month pass)

Avon Lot / 4 Street NE / 6 Street NE
  • Intended use: Regular monthly  / personalized reserved only
  • Monthly reserved parking
    • Regular: $26.25 per month or $142.50 per six months - including GST (10% discount for six-month pass)
    • Personalized: $36.75per month or $199.50 per six months - including GST (10% discount for six-month pass)
    • Arranged through City Hall – 250.803.4000

Marine Park
  • Intended use: to provide day use parking and long term parking while boating or other uses of Marine Park and Foreshore Trails
  • Hourly/Daily/Weekly Ticket Machine
  • Quarters, Loonies, Toonies and bills only. Machine does not provide change.  Credits cards are NOT accepted
  • Time permitted: one hour to 14 days maximum
  • Cost: $0.25 per hour
  • Machine will dispense first hour for free, coupon must be obtained from machine
  • Seven days per week
    8:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • Car / Truck
    • Quarters, Loonies, Toonies and bills
    • $4 multiday parking, maximum 14 days
    • Hourly ticket machine will dispense weekly passes
  • Truck and trailer / RV
    • Quarters, Loonies, Toonies and bills
    • $6 multiday parking, maximum 14 days
    • Hourly ticket machine will dispense weekly passes
    • Seven days per week

Hudson Avenue NW (Salmar Grand Theatre)
  • Intended use: to provide long term day use parking, regular monthly, and some personalized monthly  stalls (limited in number)  available and to proved short term convenient “customer” parking for easy access to businesses and services or where additional time is needed (for appointments or those making multiple stops downtown) – also accommodates larger recreational vehicles
  • Maximum time: 10 hours
  • Cost: $0.25 per hour
  • Quarters, Loonies, Toonies and Bills only.
  • Monday to Friday
    8:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • The lot will be FREE during July & August, during Spring break and Christmas break to accommodate summer tourist season and school break.

Ross Street / Fire Hall #3 / C2 Lot (TCH) / City Hall (Back Lot)
  • Intended use: to provide short term convenient “customer” parking for easy access to businesses and services or where additional time is needed (for appointments or those making multiple stops downtown).
  • Free parking, two-hour maximum
  • Monday to Saturday
    8:00 am to 6:00 pm

Parking Violation Payment
If you receive a parking violation ticket, there are a few options for payment:
  • Seal your payment in the envelope and drop it in the yellow drop box located on the SE corner of Hudson Avenue NE and Alexander Street NE
  • Seal your payment in the envelope and deposit it in the drop box to the left of the front doors of City Hall
  • Bring violation ticket and payment to the front counter at City Hall – credit cards NOT accepted
  • Seal your payment in the addressed envelope (violation ticket), put a stamp on it and drop it in any postal box – no cash please
  • Violation tickets are $35.00 with a quick pay option of $10.00 if paid within 2 business days of issuance
  • Violation tickets for Handicapped parking area are $100.00 with no quick pay option
  • Online payments are NOT an option at this time
